Find your way back to yourself

Therapy in Flagstaff and across Arizona to help you heal, reconnect, and live with more meaning.

Sometimes life starts to feel harder than it should.

You may find yourself stuck in patterns you don’t understand… reacting in ways that don’t feel like you… or carrying a heaviness that never fully goes away. Maybe you’ve tried to “figure it out,” to push through, or even been in therapy before—but something still feels unresolved.

At some point, many people begin to wonder:
Why do I keep feeling this way? And is it possible to feel different?

I believe the answer is yes.

Not because you need to become someone new—but because there is a part of you that has always been whole, steady, and capable of healing. Sometimes it just gets buried under life experiences, pain, or the ways we’ve learned to cope.

Therapy can be a place where you begin to gently reconnect with that part of yourself.

Welcome! I am Ron (he/him).

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and EMDR therapist with over 19 years of experience working with adults and couples navigating things like anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, relationship issues and life transitions.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years in a different career. During that time, I also went through a period of personal struggle that changed the direction of my life in a meaningful way.

That experience continues to shape how I work today. I tend to approach people with patience and curiosity, with the understanding that many of the ways we struggle have a story behind them—and that with the right kind of support, those patterns can begin to shift.

My Areas of Expertise

Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety and depression often have deeper roots than they first appear. Together, we look at what’s contributing to how you’re feeling and work toward a greater sense of stability, clarity, and ease.

Addictions

Addictive patterns are often ways of coping with underlying pain. Rather than focusing only on the behavior, we explore what’s beneath it—creating space for more sustainable and meaningful change.

Couples Therapy

Relationships become strained when there is a breakdown in communication, resolving conflict and connection.  I help couples to find their way back to each other and rediscover what attracts them to each other.

Therapy doesn’t mean becoming a different person.

It’s about becoming more fully yourself.

As you begin to understand your inner world with more clarity and compassion, many people notice:

  • less reactivity and more choice

  • a deeper sense of calm and stability

  • improved relationships

  • greater self-acceptance

  • a renewed sense of purpose

Healing doesn’t happen all at once. It’s not linear.
But over time, meaningful change is possible.

Client Testimonials

  • Open Minded, Non-Judgmental, Client-Centered

"I would not hesitate to recommend Ron Paul to anyone looking for a competent psychotherapist; especially someone that's truly open to their inner journey. Ron is open minded, non-judgmental, client-centered and a damn good facilitator of EMDR. I find EMDR to be for those in a hurry to experience more peace and less trauma, more integration within and less fragmentation, more self-love and compassion and less self-loathing and anxiety. I've done EMDR and cognitive behavioral therapy with other therapists. I accomplished more faster with Ron and feel free of all the previously crippling symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and Seasonal Affective Disorder. It was subtle...I just noticed that while and since working with Ron and doing EMDR with his facilitation, I've shifted into a gentle compassionate friend to myself and the things that used to cripple me have dissipated to a vague memory. I am forever grateful."

  • Getting To The Core of Issues

“I will recommend Ron Paul to anyone seeking inner peace, happiness, and just wanting to love yourself. He really knew how to get to the core of my self-esteem issues and helped me tackle them head on. The EMDR was amazing! I would not hesitate to go to him again for any issues that will arise in my life.”

  • Skilled and Deeply Compassionate

“Ron and I used a specific approach to healing trauma called EMDR.  I found him skilled, and deeply compassionate, as he guided me through making new meanings about myself when considering past traumas. He encouraged me to go deep, to be courageous -knowing that 'the only way out is through'- even while helping me always to feel safe, as I busted through old trauma experiences and emerged with new meanings.  This work with Ron has directly and positively influenced my life. I feel freed from old 'stuff' that was bogging me down.”

  • Radically Improved Communication

“Ron Paul is a highly competent and skilled counselor who radically improved communication within our relationship and facilitated our increased understanding for each other. We are experiencing much more happiness and contentment with our relationship and with each other. Ron also helped us deal with blended family issues, adult stepchildren, aging issues and disability issues. We heartily recommend Ronald Paul in his capacity as a therapist and marriage counselor.”

  • Immediate and Effective Results

“Excellent handling of the issue presented. Right on point. I have never walked into a new therapist, with a charged conflict and had such immediate and effective results. I highly recommend him for conflict resolution, communication challenges and relationship help.”

  • Fantastic Therapist

“Ron is a fantastic therapist who is client oriented, supportive, open minded, and non-judgmental. He was able to help me face my issues and put most of them to rest. I would highly recommend Ron to anyone who asked.”
